A Samsung dishwasher<\/strong> (model DW80R2031US<\/strong>) was not draining at the end of the cycle<\/strong>, even though it drained perfectly at the beginning, during the cycle, and when a cycle was canceled. The initial complaint from the homeowner was that there was water left at the bottom after a cycle finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A few additional details made this case even more curious: the dishwasher was only a year old and had recently been moved from one house to another by a renovation company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n My first thoughts were typical dishwasher troubleshooting suspects<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n I ran the dishwasher through test mode<\/strong> \u2014 no error codes appeared, and it drained perfectly during the test. I also disconnected the rubber water hose from the water valve to check for leaks \u2014 nothing. All the sensors were tested, including the turbidity sensor, water level switch, temperature sensor, and overflow switch \u2014 all checked out fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At this point, I suspected a problem with the main control board (PCB)<\/strong>. I replaced it and ran a quick cycle, expecting the issue to be resolved\u2026 but after 60 minutes of watching a Joe Rogan podcast, the dishwasher still did not drain at the end of the cycle<\/strong>. Frustrating!<\/p>\n\n\n\n While inspecting, I noticed the dishwasher was not hardwired as intended<\/strong>. Instead, it had a regular three-wire electric cord plugged into a wall receptacle. As a last resort, I opened the dishwasher\u2019s electrical box to check the wiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Immediately, the problem became obvious: the white wire was connected to black, and the black wire was connected to white<\/strong>. Whoever had installed it clearly did not wire it correctly \u2014 or simply didn\u2019t care. I rewired it properly, ran a test cycle, and it worked perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If your Samsung dishwasher<\/strong> (especially model DW80R2031US<\/strong>) drains at the beginning but not at the end of a cycle<\/strong>, don\u2019t forget to check the power cord wiring<\/strong>.
